popthru
Popthru provides logging of SMTP and POP data that is transferred
between an email client and an ISP. In other words, it allows you to
discretely monitor email messages to and from a user who dials up to
an ISP.
Popthru allows you to connect to an ISP through a different server.
In other words, you can have popthru running on a server listening on
arbitrary ports, and bouncing the connection to the real ISP. This becomes
useful when you are in an environment that is hostile to users checking
their POP email accounts. For instance if you are in a corporate environment
that has blocked connections to servers on port 110 (pop), you could have
popthru running on a server elsewhere, listening on a non-blocked port, and
have it bouncing connections to the real pop server. In this scenario, you
will
require access to a server that has unrestricted access to the target pop
server.
